On Thursday, our Hope Squad attended the Annual Hope Squad Conference. There they learned about how to care for themselves and also how to be a good friend to all students. They did some dancing, singing and role playing. We are so lucky to have this group of students.

Today is National 4th grader day and our 4th graders should be celebrated. Not only are they doing amazing things this year, but they also earned the Golden Sneaker Award for 2nd term. Way to go!

5th graders completed a service project making 40 blankets to donate to the Teen Atlas Center at Syracuse High School. Island View Pelicans love helping others.

To wrap up their MindUp lessons and to spread Christmas spirit, 4th graders completed different service projects throughout the school. This included Christmas caroling in sign language, making clay snowmen, origami boxes with treats, playing bingo and joke sharing.

Today, Mrs. Robinett’s class became a poetry cafe. The day was filled with Christmas poetry, blackout poetry art and more. To finish the day off, her 4th graders showed their knowledge in poetry devices and shared their own poems with parents at their poetry slam. Big thanks to Twisted Sugar for their donation of cookies.

At Island View Elementary, we shine bright! We let our Holiday glow.

Twinning is Winning Day at Island View!

Monday blues? Nothing a recess dance circle can't fix!

So many exciting things happening today. Christmas sweater day, Syracuse Madrigals sharing their beautiful voices, and Mrs. Mahoney's class play. We love this time of year.

Our lost and found is piling up. Many coats, hats and more has been placed in our bin. Come look for any items your child may have misplaced!

Island Views Kindergarteners learned how to code in Computer class! The I.T. world is not ready for these amazing students!

Ms. Robinett’s fourth graders wrapped up their Middle Ages studies with a day-long celebration. Their classroom was turned into a mideval castle with a portcullis, candles, knights and goblets. Students created stained-glass artwork, talked about what they’ve learned, and ended with a book feast! #SoaringIntoAwesome #PelicanPride

Mrs. Johnson's class celebrated Veterans Day by writing letters and making poppies to send to the local veterans home. THANK YOU VETERANS! WE REMEMBER!

Let the 6-7 shenanigans begin!

This morning in Hope Squad meeting, our hope squad members learned about resilience. Their challenge was to hold up a book with only using 4 pieces of paper. Positive self-talk, good sleep, and setting goals helps you become resilient.

In Mrs. Call's class for Science, students designed a home to withstand a hurricane. The home took on a box fan to see how well they designed it!

Our lost and found is growing and we need your help! Do any of these items belong to your student? Please come grab what belongs to you. Items will be donated after school on November 7th.

Calling Mrs. Hardy’s class! We need phonics stat!
Mrs. Hardy's class used a letter bank to help prescribe medication for sick vowel-consonant-E patients. Students worked as doctor teams of three to construct the words that match the sick patients’ symptoms and send them on their way feeling better than ever!
We are so grateful for our resident doctors!

Mrs Allington's 2nd graders shared their pumpkin book reports with administrators and their 4th grade buddies. They decorated a pumpkin like one of the characters from the book. Great work!
